First impressions are a one-chance deal; they can never be changed, amended or otherwise taken back. The look on a lady’s face when she first meets a guy has the power to build him up or tear him down. So, here’s how to make a great first impression and get things started on the right foot.
5. Smile
Seems simple, right? Whether he looks like a dream or not exactly as expected, put on a smile and watch his excitement build. His first reaction upon seeing what he thinks is a disappointed girl will be “Uh oh, I’m not what she was hoping for,” and if he’s not brave enough to ask, he’ll spend the rest of the date wondering what that look was all about.
4. Be Polite
If he holds the door open, say thank you and return the favor later on. If he shows you chivalry is not dead, then he is likely making a conscious decision to be courteous like this. Show the same respect back, and he’ll know you appreciate it.
3. Save the Drunken Stories for Later
The “Parking Lot Scuffle” and “Getting Kicked Out of the Baseball Game” stories may seem hilarious, but they are best left for date three or four at the least. If the go-to story right out of the gate is about how drunk and stupid you and friends can be, this will create the impression (whether true or not) that this happens all too frequently. This is a great story to share with a bro, but does anyone really want to do a ‘bro’?
2. Dress to Impress
The old saying is true, and believe it or not guys love professionally dressed gals; it’s basically the equivalent to a man in uniform. This is a fine line though, a restaurant certainly calls for a fancy outfit, but nice jeans for a movie date are enough. If unsure, do some research on the date’s destination and use your best judgment.
1. Be Confident & Relax
It’s hard not to appear nervous on a first date, but do your best. Obvious nervousness creates a feeling that conversation needs to be forced, and that’s never fun. Relax and be confident (what’s not to be confident about?), it works wonders for both genders. As much as creating a first impression is important, the date is not all about him it’s about you too.
Creating a great first impression isn’t some fine-tuned science; it’s about being confident and showing someone (and yourself) how impressive you can be. Mostly everyone’s time is spent achieving a status at work and in society, and this is a perfect time to let the hard work ooze out of you in the form of confidence.
